Why & How To Perform Scorpions

by Eileen

What is a Scorpion?

I clicked on Day 1: Fat Burning Circuit Workout of the Free Workout Plan and the workouts calls for one to do 10 Scorpions on each side after the first four minutes. . .

(I was not able to view the movie that shows what a Scorpion is).

Thank you so much in advance,

Eileen

Scorpion Boosts Mobility & Fatloss
by: Monica

Hi Eileen

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I did a massive site edit last month and some things were deleted. I did not mean to remove this video.

The scorpion is an amazing exercise that improves hip, low back, and core mobility. It improves posture and boosts performance which in turn increases your body's ability to burn fat.

Here is the video where Dr. Perry explains why and how to do the famous scorpion. My clients all have a love hate relationship with this exercise. They hate doing it but love the improved mobility and typically feel very energized after doing this exercise.

The scorpion wrings out all the tension in your body and aligns your body so that you can have a killer workout. Enjoy!

scorpion modifications
by: Monica

You can definitely modify the scorpion to make it pain free. You can prop up onto the forearms the way you're describing and you can also do it from cobra pose.

If you want to turn it into a challenging exercise you can also perform it from a forearm plank position or from a downward dog pose like I'm doing in the video below.

You can also try the TRX scorpions like you see me doing in the second video. These last two versions are my favorite.
